Tornado Warnings Are Frightening
I hear what you’re saying, being from the West Coast where weather is temperate and our greatest fear are earthquakes, wildfires, smash and grabs and gas prices.
We journey across country
at least four times a year and have learned to avoid extreme weather, crime ridden cities and trucking corridors-all of which are cumbersome , dangerous and nit on my bucket list of thrill seeking adventures.
Your grandson(?) has the right idea to be aware and prepared-radio, hard hat and snacks is a good start. I’d also connect with local agencies and community groups like churches, the Red Cross and other public services. It’s not their first rodeo and have a plethora of resources and emergency plans to assist newcomers and local yolkles.
Good luck.!

We get many warnings here and once this house lost part of the roof but nothing since i have been here. I am grateful for and besides, I will always have this lovely home kept in my heart.

That is just awful. Thankfully, they weren't injured. Hopefully, they will make a safe location for themselves soon. Respect for the elements is a very necessary part of life. Our porch roof was blown off a few years ago from a tornado. They are becoming more frequent. We have a cellar, but I believe we would go under the table or in the bathtub if we couldn't make it to the cellar in time.
