Love this post. I found out about the Donut Dollies from a movie I once watched. Thank you for sharing your experience and your knowledge. I am sure the vet enjoyed it also. Most people love it when people share their experiences. It makes you feel alive and noticed.

I believe the Red Cross had programs like that at other coastal cities and training centers -- locations where the Navy and other military branches trained. There were USO type programs where volunteers hosted service members for meals, social events, etc.

yes we were taught about the Donut dollies although it was some time later that i tasted my first Donut. Sigh. Now, I am craving donuts!

I love the story and the name. My Poppop served in WWII, and he was stationed in Washington during his enlistment. If he were still around, I'd ask him if he was familiar with the Donut Dolly's who brightened everyone's morning. 🍩☕Girl hug
