I am sure he divided his love in the best way he could. I think I had a few letters when I was a conscript. I like the parcel with a couple of apples.🌺

It's wonderful that you lived close to your dad and you had a great relationship. He sounds like he was a real treasure to all who knew him. Now I'm jealous. I never knew my dad. A cousin gave me a letter he had written to them before he passed. That letter gave me a glimpse into the man I never got the chance to know.

What a treasure and a treat to read Hursel's letters, even if they weren't addressed to you. No need to be jealous since you were close at hand, as you said. Letters such as those serve to bring our special persons back to us for a while. If only we could teach our younger ones that one day they too may value some of the sentimental keepsakes we tend to hold on to for life.
