I try to remain calm and think about the best possible scenario of getting out of the situation, right after I say a prayer to God to help see me through it all. 🙏

Re: Kabu

Isn't it wonderful to serve a God who allows you to be able to ask him questions?  Many believers at times find themselves questioning God's will. Having a relationship with God is what it is all about.

It best to not panic.

When I'm faced with an emergency I quickly asses it, then act accordingly. There was a time years ago when someone had broken into one of my satellite schools. I got a call on my car phone (remember those?, lol) to meet the sheriff's deputy at the school. I was less than a half mile away but I had my children with me and the oldest being 8. I got there, secured my kids and met the sheriff but his gun was drawn. I unlocked the school. It was two students holed up in the attic. They came out peacefully. A tryst that went awry for them. Hahaha. It could have easily been a nightmare. Faith in God to carry one inan emergency is wonderful as well.

Good Evening

BearcatMike, I trained for 10 years with the Citizens Emergency Response Team.  We trained for many different disasters, and one of the things we learned was that if we were the first one on the scene, we were in charge till someone came that we could turn it over to and fill them in on what we knew.  (Incident commander) It's important to keep a clear mind about what's going on.  It can be rough.  The videos we watched made me question at times if I could do it.  We went out searching for people, and I remember one time we were searching with guard dogs.  We were told not to have eye contact with them because they were trained and were there only to search for the victim.  I do believe everything I learned would help me in an Emergency situation, but we don't know what we would be facing.  It could be a flood, fire, missing person.  We just don't know.  We had a lot of training with fire situations, and the one thing I will never forget is to not turn your back on a fire.  That is very important.  We learned that in every drill.  The reason I joined this team was to help people.  I believe prayer will help me no matter what I'm facing.  I hope you have a good night.  I've done it again.  I've made a too-long post.

It is my faith as well that gets me through traumatic times. Well it usually does, I am cross about Jim's death though!

I probably worry about a stressful condition afterwards. Although I like your drift.

Rule 1 - take a deep breath and focus on how to solve the problem. (Not sure if this is even possible if I find myself in a panic.)
