Move over a bit Pat I like sitting on this stump with you. I wonder what your Mother could have done if things had been more in her favor. I wonder did you ever have wild rabbits for dinner. It makes me shudder the last one we had was near to giving birth because it had  little .whites in the flesh. When I remind my sister that she liked the brains, she shudders.

Also when she bought one crayfish of a boy and cooked it herself. 🌺

Your stories never fail to make me feel as though I am there with you. Although you more than likely would have kicked me out of your secret spot.

Good Morning

I always enjoy the way you paint a picture of the town. Your precise descriptions of the people and the geography. Setting the tone of the area and the history. Colorful characters that are common to many of us, like Old Mrs. Degross's grandsons, who were the town bullies. You are so detailed. It sounds like you love nature and the outdoors.  Great title

Good Morning

Pat, you definitely found a good place to have peace and quiet.  If someone were looking for you, you would know it.  I think every child needs a place like that.  If someone were looking for me and I was there, I would have been reading a good book.  I would call it my safe zone.  I wouldn't tell anybody about it.
