So glad to see you posting again, dear brother. I hope you are healing more and more each day. I love what you have written in this post. It triggered some thoughts on writing in general and you also pointed out the genius of Coleridge. He has truly captured the essence of what has today become the horror genre or the psychological thriller in that the unimaginable must be interspersed with enough reslity to make it plausible. The view on supernatural is a sketchy subject. People can deny its existence, but regardless of what anyone thinks, it is as real as the people who have experienced that realm of our universe.
