Well, mine was 200 once I was taken to the hospital, had a rest and a cup of water and was cured.

BP. 172 over what! No.1 from this old nurse. It is vital to have highest and lowest beeps! If it is 172 over more than 100 then it is high But 172, that doesn't sound correct to me! Go to your Pharmacy and ask them to check it!
The other thing about this today, is that all GP's seem to be bought by drug companies or Pharmaceuticals as they call themselves. They all have a big cupboard full of drugs that they can give someone to 'just try these!' and it is across the World, in my experiences. Most drugs are meant to relieve symptoms such as pain etc. Not to fix the problem!!

Taking your BP meds as prescribed will help you and the doctor see if they're working. I've been dealing with high BP and Afib for about 10 years now use a BP cuff at home to keep track of it. If you have a blood pressure cuff you can see for yourself if the meds are helping, and you'll have the info to use when you talk to your medic.
