I would have been able to teach primary school children but certainly not mifddle or high school.

I did some substitute teaching the first year after college. It was very interesting. I know what you mean when the sub doesn't have expertise in an area. I did encounter that a couple if time but fortunately the teacher had a great lesson plan so I didn't look like a fish out of water.

With his math skills, Mr. Pennison would have had no issues keeping up with his books at the restaurant. It never hurts to have more than one skill to back up your career aspirations while figuring out what you will be happy doing until retirement.
