At the end of the day, they are still human beings. I'm sure they have heard things that have caused them to be deeply moved. Of course, they are in a private section of a confessional box, so only they know their reaction to a confession. Being men of faith, they pray and pull it together before leaving their private sanctuary.

It was not at confession....but....
The priest came to my Mom's home when she was a teenager to angrily confront her because he found out she had been going with her teen friends to a Presbyterian Church. He told her that she was going to die and go to hell if she ever went there again. He did a really good imitation of anger to both her and her parents and my Mom never again went to the Catholic church except for funerals. Mom chose the Baptist Church with Dad and they were happy ever after as far as denominations go.

I agree with your assessment. Even in my religion the pastors are not shocked, they are only interested in ministering to people.

Well one has too be faultless to be a priest. I could never be one because I made a promise to God and could not keep it. Also I carved my initials on the Church pillar.
