Good Evening

BearcatMike, thanks for sharing such a great post.  I loved it!  I made dinner and then cleaned up the kitchen, and came into the dining room to read some blogs, and I thought this was a wonderful post for this evening.

We do have it lucky these days when it comes to the weather. I am thankful for my HVAC system, especially the heat with the temps and snow.

Finding shelter was Job 1 for our early ancestors. Designing tools to help build lean-to
structures, use mud to fill chinks and cracks and hold structures in place took creativity and ingenuity. Humans used trial and error, methods were shared and passed on to others. It's a good thing for us they were able to figure it out.

It was once said many men died in winter here in the UK. Because they did not realise. wearing a suit was not an adequate protection against the cold. Of course they have cars now.

My guess is the weather, and diseases were a huge part of the reason why people died in their twenties and thirties. I can't begin to imagine how they dealt with below zero temperatures. I mean, a fire can only do so much. It makes me thankful for central heat, electric blankets, and indoor shelter.
