I was at a meeting and we had just taken a break for lunch. As we were sitting in the dining room a television was broadcasting the liftoff. Since Christa McAuliffe as everyone knows was on the shuttle to teach from space. As educators we were so elated that one of our was going to make history. Teachers from my district had made application to be one of the first in space as well. But, horror struck and the mission ended horribly. We were aghast as I'm sure everyone who witnessed is was. Children across America were tuned in because of the anticipated lessons and all of it gone to an O ring. It was so sad. We had extra counselors brought in to help the student through their grief.
