With a cough involved, my go-to is Mucinex that helps clear out the chest congestion so you can limit the coughing. The dosage can be quite high without undesirable side effects, so I go for the strongest I can get!
I hope you feel much better very soon!

Re: Sea_Gypsy.....
.....That's really gross about the doctor. I missed the birthday party for my oldest friend, 101 now and still ambulating pushing a wheel chair so that she can sit down if she gets tired. I certainly did not want to give her the flu. She is the sweetest little old thing....always sweet and smiling.

well I was always told the flu takes 14 days or two weeks whichever you prefer . I put Vix vapour rub on my chest. It was what mother always did for me and it doesn't burn the nose.If I have a bad cough I put the Vix in hot water a towel over my head and breath in the vapour. That helps to clear out the chest so one can sleep. A couple of tylenol isn't going to harm you either no matter what Trump says. A good sleep is more important than him!

I am so sorry this person got you sick! I just hope you feel better sooner rather than later. I’m glad you discovered how you got it. Lately I have been out and around people taller than me who coughed really hard in my path. It’s like dodging bullets in a battleground, even in the grocery store. And then the doc kept sniffing yesterday with a runny nose! Eeeiii!

The flu shot takes a couple of weeks before it offers the best protection. But, I did read that the strain of flu this year is tough to combat. Staying hydrated will help and try a warm compress.

I found her.... I found the lady I got it from....
She's older and worse off than I am. When she came down with symptoms a week and a half ago she called her doctor and he told her it probably wasn't the flu so she didn't go. She has been pretty sick. A week ago Monday she was sitting next to me at Bible Study and I noticed she was doing a lot of nose blowing and she was also passing things down the line....to me to pass on. I forgot about it when I got home and don't remember how long it was before I washed my hands good. We both have had quite a time with it. Good reminder for washing hands often.

I once had a peculiar type of flue I had forgotten. I bought a steamer I cannot remember if it worked. I think there are quite a number of different viruses I hope yours is a weak little strain.🌺

I have never had the flu, but my middle daughter once had it in high school. She was down for nearly a week. The body aches, sore throat, and dry cough were what she complained about the most. We fed her broth and crackers, gave her flu medication, and turned the humidifier on in her room. Sleep is one of the best things one can do when taken over by the flu.

I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps it would give you some comfort to breathe the steam from a cup of tea, a little hydration for those nasal passages. Stay cozy.
