15 was not seen as still a child like...well like my parents saw me and I felt about my sons and even my grandchildren, they were still in high school and would be going on to college. No one thought of them as adults until at least eighteen. However for many in the  population earlier, who survived children's diseases, they were leaving school at 14, my first husband left school with his twin brother on their 14th birthday. They had to learn how to farm the land and care for the animals!

You have hit the nail on the head with Hursel’s leaving. Plus, in those days it wasn’t that uncommon. I think, for a young guy to strike out on his own. I am truly enjoying this series.

Good afternoon

The young man was taught to be his own person, and that is exactly what he did.  I give him every bit of credit.

It is a great lesson to be taught to be responsible for yourself and your actions, as should be for each and every one of us.

They must have left a lasting impression on him. He followed those three strong men's lead by example, which is the normal thing to do when you look up to your mentors.
