I forgot to mention the fact that it would have been a really amazing time to be old enough to experience the roaring twenties. In history, there hasn't been an era quite like that one.

It's a reminder how slowly news spread if at all. Nowadays with social media, I like to joke we know things before they happen.

Yes, you really do have to keep in touch with family ,if you want to keep having some family. I am sad he missed them.
