- Go to VIII. On The Trail
What a rough way to travel. When it's all one knows it makes a difference. I read a book about two brothers who reenacted the Oregon trail. It was a fabulous read. They had the advantage of being able to plan and the route. I've always admired the Pioneers, superb group of people.

It was rough being a Pioneer in Australia as well. No land rushes like this but good land was not easy to come by.

I watched a movie on the Oklahoma Land Rush. The 1992 movie, Far and Away starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It was from watching this movie that I learned about that part of our history. What a strange way to acquire land, but whatever works. With our world population today, that would never work without mass injuries. Here is a clip of the movie. After the short ad, the trailer will play Far and Away. https://youtu.be/jFrVoG-edFc

Good Morning
These people were amazing. What they endured every day must have been very hard for them. Traveling by covered wagon could not have been easy, and I cannot imagine the men sleeping on the ground. Making meals for their family had to be very hard, but I do love the fact that they were able to collect many pecans along the way for delicious pies and treats.
