Perhaps you could put a collage together to remind them both what a great bond they had at one time. Perhaps email it to each one with a happy holidays and simply say you were reminiscing and this brought a smile to your face and you hope it does to theirs as well. It's all perfectly innocent and above all thoughtful. Just a thought.
