The situation after WW II was so desolate, and so much waste lay around that to hope for future regeneration, at that period, ironically, did look 🦅brutal. Or, so I think.🦕

This blew me away before and has done so again. I always think that the Waste Land as the representation of the author's point of view of at the individual as well as the topics overtly mentioned. I know his mental state was less than what some might call within the normal range at times but he liked his poem, I think. And that's the yardstick for him. Your writing on such a difficult poem is always a mental lift that I so enjoy! Grazie!

So much in The Waste Land mirrors what is happening today. In the poem the barren landscapes seems to be a foreshadow of the climate crisis today, if one believes there is a crisis. I do! And in The Waste Land it speaks of culture losing its traditions and trying to find new meaning. Today is about culture trying to circumvent the meaning and inventing new traditions with skewed meanings but nonetheless in a similar way. I so enjoy your posts, it gets me thinking and that is always fun!
