I hope everything settles down and gets back to normal soon. If everyone could get along, that would be a very good thing. We have a lot of people in Cleveland worrying about food cards being cancelled.

I agree there is definitely a push to dumb down the average American. And this worries me for the future. I also believe there should be an age barrier for taking a great office in the country, either too young to understand the needs of so many millions of people and so many with different ethnic backgrounds and expectations. There also needs to be an age limit for how old someone can be. Jim and I are 80 and 81, and I know full well that we are perfectly capable of running our own household and so on. We couldn't manage all those trips overseas, the time differences, the food, and the language barriers. So many things that we need to rest and relax and not be making all those decisions.

Which is why the ones intent on demolishing American democracy--MAGA Republicans--do not want Americans to be educated. But a lot of us already are and we see through the deceptions and the BS.

I think what's happening is the Republican Party, basically slaved to Trump, wants to undo American democracy and sees the American people as the enemy. To them the Democratic Party is, however ineffectual, the 'champion' in the political arena for the people. Tug of war? I can see that, too. But perhaps the rope is the Vote.

I am just confused about everything these days. The blame game, the lying, the rigging of elections, the tearing down, the refusal to work together is so counter productive. I can't ascertain what either party truly wants but I have a clear feeling that We the people, are not part of the grand scheme. It seems like a power struggle in this tug of war and we are the rope.
