When you don't know what to do put it back on the one who is wronging you! A good response would be to ask them how their remark made them feel when they said it. It makes them ponder what they said. Offense is always the best defense for me.

Without knowing the exact nature of the criticism, I would try to meet with the person to talk about the issue(s).
