I can empathize.  Good thing you've got this place to vent. But the good thing is that if you're cooking, you get to fix exactly what you want to eat. I'd be picking up some chocolate silk pie with whipped cream on top at the supermarket and spoil myself with a smooth and satisfying dessert.

I will admit I, too, have a pity party to myself. This is the second husband I have had to give a great deal of help to. Different, but I suspect this one is a bit lazy. Whiley, who used to be here, had the onset of dementia, which got worse and worse. Perhaps one was enough!

It's very understandable to feel down when the weight of the world feels like it is on our shoulders...Thank God we have God.

Pity parties are easy to attend when life overloads us with what we think is more than we can handle. You are a smart man to recognize this and not hold grudges. Not everyone finds preparing meals to be a joyful experience. I love cooking and baking, but my hubby would burn the house down if I left that chore to him. Instead, he does most of the outdoor grunt work. I help out, but he handles the hard labor chores whiles I stick to running the mower through our small yard.
