Good Evening

I agree that it is a good idea to ban cell phones during class time.  It's funny because someone just told me yesterday that no one has landlines anymore, but he noticed that I have one.  I refused to give up my landline.  I do have a cell phone, but I like to talk on my landline.

Another excellent Post. I remember back, just a few years ago, kids would meet in the Mall and chatter and laugh, share stuff, and sit at a table drinking soda pop or whatever. They were noisy, happy, and interactive with their friends.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Mike. It is way better for cellphones to be banned from classes. When I was a kid, it was not like we could play with our Game Boys in schools.

If I'd had one at 15.....

No one would have ever seen my face....only the top of my head.

Cellphones are a huge distraction for schoolkids and adults in the workforce. I'm happy to hear that something is being done about it. I also read that landlines are making a comeback as a way to get kids off their phones. I can't tell you how many times my granddaughter has texted me while in school. My hubby, John, works with guys, twenty to forty, who refuse to set their cellphones down, regardless of what is going on in the steel mill. They walk with their heads down, zoned in on their phones, and it is dangerous. Landlines Are Making a Comeback

I believe the constant attention to social media takes kids out of the moment they're living in the world. Being in nature, walking in the woods is a chance to absorb the tranquility and pick up the sights and sounds around you. Being on a cell phone while taking a walk means you're not paying enough attention to either... IMHO. Of course, I came up before there were such things as cell phones - if Mama thought it was time to come in, she simply stood on the porch and gave the Tarzan yell - it carried to the outer reaches of our neighborhood.
