I hope you stay warm. I lived in a house where the basement would flood every time it rained. I had to make sure that my water pump was always ready. Later, I discovered that the county was aware of the problem but had not taken any action to repair it. Everyone on my block had the same issue.

Re: Pat
We must have been tough in those days. Although my Sister says that the wind lifts her carpet if the vents are not shut down in Winter. Warmth is essential as one passes the
stop and think age.🌺🌺

Re: Kabui
Yes we were in the same situation and a small paraffin stove for heating as well as one for cooking. We dressed under the bedclothes especially during the war when no lights were allowed.🌺🌺

Re: Good Morning Goldiec🌺
We do have Gas central heating, we once had paraffin but it became too expensive although I do know some who still use it perhaps not wanting the outlay for a new system.

Re: Good morning Sherri
Sounds unlikely you will suffer. We are O K built on stone quarry. A lot of cottages were built with stone slabs as a floor it has all tightened up the past 50 years but rough if one lives on a flood plain. Builders still try.

I am on a slab. I would imagine mother nature would be underneath. I have a utility room to compensate.

I will have to remember to plant some pink Dahlia bulbs in the spring. Our home was built in 1910, but it is solid with double-pane windows and a great heating system. We have a dry cellar due to our home being built several feet above the road with a yard equipped with plenty of French drains. Wet basements are a real issue in Pennsylvania because they cause mold and mildew. 🌺

Good Morning
I'm wondering how cold it is? I do hope you stay warm. Put extra covers on the bed and remember to turn up the heat. It's going to be near 80 here, which is almost unheard of for this time of year. I'm not sure when our temperatures will be back to normal.

When I was a kid, we had no electricity. Had to huddle around the wood stove to get dressed.

I can remember a small house we lived in once, non-insulated floorboards, and chills that creep up through unseen cracks. Stepping onto the floor in bare feet when we got out of bed would give us a chill. Stay cozy.
