Re: BearcatMike,
I've heard it said and agreed with by people who have tried it that hanging a 'faux' wasp nest--crocheted or paper mâché or even just a pouchy bag in the area discourages real wasps. Apparently they are very territorial!

Nice To Do Lists. I fight with surprise wasp nests every year. I destroy the nests. Yet the following year, they return. They must have some type of built in homing device that directs them.

If wasps do come back, wait until the cold, cold winter days, cos they hibernate and sleep. I did that in Canada. My helpers and I moved them from the two sheds and dropped them into a barrel that was burning rubbish. They die not feeling a thing.

Re: Pat B,
You've got me thinking... The mirrors have to move in the fixtures, but I could maybe stuff herbs in there. I don't like mint either, but maybe sage or lavender would work.

Can you seal off the openings with wax or soap or something they hate the scent of so they don't find that nesting spot again? I don't think they like mint, but I may be remembering the wrong flying thing.

Please send some of that cool air to the East Coast. The heat is beating me down profusely. 🥵
