You are the exception to the rule. Cell phones are very addictive. When you are a student. The last thing you need is another distraction. It more than likely enabled you to become a better student.

Cellphones are a huge distraction for school students, people in the workforce, and drivers who use them while operating a vehicle. It is commendable that you didn't use your cellphone while in class. I wish the world would go back in time to the way things were before cellphones became a thing. 📞
