This must have been very similar to the Texas Disaster, which is such a terrible tragedy. So glad you and Uncle were safe.

That was some storm, or band of storms, I should say. I remember us receiving a derecho in 2011. It did not do the level of damage that you described back in 1969.

I had heard that term before but didn't picture it in my mind until your description. Your memory sounds much like the devastation in Texas that just happened - terrifying. Wow!

How awful! No wonder you remember the catastrophic event so vividly. I have never heard the term Derecho, but the name sounds evil, as proven by the storm's outcome. I'm sorry you experienced that, and the day was ruined. Mother Nature has a fickle way of doing that.
