Re: Dear Sea Sis,

Do come whenever you have time. No hurry. Enjoying here all right. My elder son will come tomorrow from Singapore. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter are already here. The plane crash in India was indeed devastating with all 242 people dying save one who escaped miraculously from the debris and went walking.

Re: Sherri G,

Eliot was an exceptional genius - the greatest poet of the 20th century. This he wrote when undergoing a treatment for a severe mental illness in Lausanne, Switzerland. There are reported cases where a critical condition of the brain puts one much ahead of one’s time. He really blows my mind out. I can recite almost all his poems ad verbatim.

Re: Kabu ma’am,

I can understand why you couldn’t have helped. The WWII ended when you were born. It was maybe 10 years when you started to understand feebly, the import of the holocaust, but not in any deep sentimental intensity. The horrors of the War is felt only by those who lived then - in utter fear, desolate hopelessness, destruction all around, scarcity, their country in rubbles all around - something what is now the pitiable situation in Hamas and Ukraine. And then of course, Australia was never in the picture of the II WW scene the likes of which European countries were. Plus, you have always been an abiding optimist.

Hi there! I have to have a second read. I think there are times we mourn the direction our civilization is taking but on the other hand, I think those times can be transitory. I will come back to revisit. Meanwhile enjoy your stay here and my condolences on the terrible plane crash that India suffered.

T.S. Eliot was certainly ahead of his time. If only he could see the shenanigans of our world today, especially the creations derived from AI. Sarcastic smile

Well I was born in 1945 and as far as I am concerned the 20th century was not at all dull. I grew up travelling and kept on travelling throughout the decades. I had two children and a couple of marriages I could have done without but my Boys made all the difference to them. I guess it is how you look at the World. I find beauty everywhere, big cities have museums, huge libraries and parades!!Embarrassed smile { sorry couldn't help that.}
