Re: Kabu,
Not so much cruel as indifferent. We just have to learn to get out of the way when nature does something big and heartless, just being what it is. (A college student very grandly pleased with himself said to a scientist/professor colleague of my dad, "I accept the Universe!" to which the prof replied, "You'd better!")
I'd like to visit the mountain again next time I'm out that way. It's amazing, really, how fast life returned even while the dead forest, drifting around Spirit Lake or standing gaunt and stripped of branch and bark, remains like ghosts.

The thing that hit me the most from your fantastic photography is the rebirth. The new growth of green and other touches of color. Yes, nature is cruel and harsh but also gentle so that we forgive her.

Re: CCT
I do indeed have that pot of ash! It sits alongside the jar of black sand from an Alaskan beach. Maybe I should change those jars for some more aesthetic glass vases.

Re: TAPS
That was probably that next weekend when we drove down agog at the Toutle River, and back through the mud and ash!

Re: Ciel....
.....Very interesting. At that time Son Stephen and his wife lived in Portland, Oregon which got about 6" of ash to come down on them.

Goodness Ciel you were a brave girl. It makes one realize how life could be wiped Time is the key. I wonder if you would do the same many years later. A really unique experience.
I hope you still have the pot of ash.🌺
