Re: It is a real pain, Mike. We just ordered an original for John.
The raised seal is an absolute must.

The TSA has proposed extending the deadline to 2027. This would be great! Good luck.Â

This is crazy stuff!! Mother used to tell me how up until after the second WW11 in Australia one had to have border passes to cross into another State. Sometimes Government drives one crazy...

It is a real pain. The same thing happened to me. People in my age group from Alabama had some water damage or fire at the record archive, so I was sent a special Birth Certificate. Then, as time went by, I tried to get my Real ID and Passport. They would not accept the copy. I had to contact Alabama and get a special, certified raised symbol copy. My Military ID wasn't good enough either. Unfortunately, you need your original birth certificate or a certified, raised-seal copy for both the Real ID and your Passport. The only exception is if you have an old Passport.
