My four acre property in Canada, had lots of bumble bees. Big beautiful gentle creatures that would settle on my hand on occasion and I would take them to a spot where flowers in bloom. I never let anyone cut the grass until the dandy lions had finished flowering and even then, a quarter acre of grass was not to be touched. The property was surrounded by woods as well.

A large one was in one of my smaller greenhouses this morning it was quite large and was making a lot of noise until it flew out. When my Mother was a small girl she told me that an

old gardener said he would pay sixpence if she would catch a bumble bee to put in his greenhouse to pollenate his grape vines. She did catch one in a jam jar.
