You're right about the attitudes toward homeless folk. Years ago when I worked for the university, there was a student worker who had a job in my department. She was a gifted student, on the Dean's list. One day she told me she was homeless, sleeping in her car until there was a vacancy in student housing, and please don't tell anyone. I didn't. A couple weeks later she was assigned a student apartment.
