What a fun memory that is. When I was a kid, I would have loved to have had a family-owned horse-drawn wax business pulled around by Tom. 🐴

Re: Pat

Around 1934 my Dad bought a new Morris Commercial van which he had designed into shop. paraffin tanks ran underneath. There was no antifreeze in those days and he was always worried. It was really bad Winters in those days and he had to keep a lamp burning  under the radiator at night to stop the water  freezing. He could not rest he had to keep going out to the the shed at night to see if had set fire.🌺

Re: SG

Yes the nails were apt to mark the roads but it was almost impossible on slippery roads for the poor old horse to pull a loaded wagon up the hills. One of the villages we served was all uphill from home. 🌺

It is funny how one can feel deep in memory . Sadly for some. 🌺

What precious memories, though not always warm and fuzzy. I had no idea they would add extra nails to the horse’s shoes. A cold time for a little boy, it must have been that day. 🌹😀

Wow! Sounds almost like something out of the 1800s - horse-drawn wagon and covering with tarps, etc. Makes me feel a chill just to think of it.
