We always observed the pork/ham tradition. Hereโs one more Italian one: serve lentils. They represent money; the more lentils the more wealth.,Now how can I serve lentils and blackeyed peas? ย ๐คฃ

Oh dear, well our tradition was to spend the day at a beach with all of Mother's family. Eating, swimming, swimming eating. All the sisters and sister in laws would bring tons of food. and we were obliged to try a taste from everyone's hamper. Then at night mostly they came back to our place for cups of tea, a drop or two of beer for the men and we would stand around the piano, someone would play, and we would sing old songs from WW1 and onwards through the 20's and 30's.
