Your memories bring back my own. So fun to read them. We made our own butter and cheese, and ice cream on special occasions. Lye soap was another thing made at home. I hated that soap.

We didn't go to the city when I was young, not until Polio vaccination was available. Even then Mother and Dad would go shopping and we would stay home. Dad also had to visit his Mother. Bless her heart, she lived well into her 90's.

I enjoy your stories from long ago. They make me want to visit the places where you have lived. I enjoyed browsing through the Sears Christmas catalog. My mom was a manager at the Sears store where I spent some of my childhood in Klamath Falls, Oregon. There is nothing quite like that catalog. It was filled with just about anything a person could ever want. Thanks for the sweet memory. Enjoy your day. Regular smile
