' It requires patience and a calmness that mirrors an explosive ordinance disposal expert.' Reading this started my morning with a laugh - thank you!

The Car is such an American statement of individuality and personal freedom, I think we are generations away from the European popularity of trains that go practically everywhere.

Here, we are barely beginning to get the notion of 'zipper' merging, or understanding that express lanes are not meant for going even faster than the speeders in the left lane, but to allow one to get around slowed traffic in jammed up lanes.

Traffic is quite  a scene in our area (I'm in the Baltimore Area). I grit my teeth a lot on the road.

I suppose any latent anger comes to the fore when one is kind of insulated from direct contact, but becomes the machine oneself. Any little fault is noticed and it tends to instigate a response. I suppose being a good driver you allow or anticipate the response of others.

I was a very good driver for years & years & years, but....

.....when I got into my eighties I noted that I was unsure of myself in merging onto the freeways.  I also noted that I was driving more slowly and I decided to give up driving before I caused a problem for myself or for anyone else.  I've not regretted it.  Now I just have a State identification card instead of a driver's license.

I drove in rush hour traffic for over seven years in and around Pittsburgh. It was not fun. The variables are scary in that some people really get angry and pull crazy maneuvers to push through traffic jams. I also used to worry about speeders and distracted drivers. You really do have to drive for yourself and others if you wish to make it to your destination in one piece. 🚗Girl hug

Too much traffic is bad in everyway that you can think of. for the environment for the safety of everyone for the rising tempers the frustrations that bring heart attacks..... I agree bring back working from home and car pools. there used to be areas set aside for leaving your car so you could meet in one place and car pool. Good post.
