Go to Life in the fast lane--where's the on ramp?

- Go to Stalwart
As you commented, the media tend to focus on the wrong instead of the right, the evil instead of the good, the reason being because is sells better. Most people, however much they want to hear this stuff, are not evil. It is comparable to those who love horror movies but would never think of commiting the act themselves.

Pat....
I don't think anyone has ever called me "Stalwart".....but my Mother always called me "A Rock"....and that was even before I became a "Stone". I'm not sure what she saw in me, but I loved her very much and I loved helping her when she needed help.

I am most worried about the aftermath. We intend to stay home mostly and keep to ourselves.

I know it seems as though there are not many stalwarts around us these days, but I believe our perception stems in part from news coverage. The media puts so much focus on the troublemakers, malcontents and politicians that we overlook the standup majority.

Those qualities in people are sorely missing today. I have never heard the word before, but I like it. It needs a comeback. As for the coming election day, I am dreading the aftermath if it becomes ugly.

Good Morning
Pat, I think so many people do whatever they have to do to help others. The hurricanes and floods have shown us what people are willing to do to save others. There's been terrible floods in Spain and I've been reading about so many rescues.

That's one of many qualities that simply isn't in the emotional or behavioral vocabulary these days, side-lined along with community, neighborliness, diligence, patience... Good grief, I sound like an Elder bemoaning the Youth!
