I can remember as a boy how sad it was to hear of the cargo boats being sunk, not only that the poor sailors had no hope of rescue. 🌺

Yes it was plain but nourishing of course light is the reason for growth as well.

Mama raised a few hens in a small pen when we lived in the village, and she usually killed one for cooking by using an axe. It sounds barbaric, but our diet was no doubt much healthier when we raised our own veggies and chickens, and there were no preservatives or additives.

people had to eat....and y'know what upset me? I eventually discovered more ammunitions' and food were sent up around the top down to Finland to be sent across to Russia than was kept for the UK. Australian farmers like my Dad were sending their produce and animal products supposedly to England to help the Mother country and so much was sunk by the U boats, but the rest often by passed the UK and went to Russia.
