I cannot remember ever getting American news or features direct. We did have workers playtime from somewhere in England factories that were usually female war workers.
Tommy Handley was the main organizer. Workers Playtime. 🌺

Glad you have found out. We had mostly English and Australian comics on the radio...the big one in Australia was Dad and Dave...silly hillbilly type characters.

Re: Sherri G
I finally gave up and looked it up. You're absolutely right, it was "The Life of Riley." Thank you for this informative comment! Lovin' it!Â

I remember my Mommom using the term, Fibber McGee, so I am guessing she probably listened to the show during the late 1940s. I found this piece for you to read...The Life of Riley, 1944 to 1951. William Bendix the protagonist, as Riley and among others John Brown, who portrayed the friendly undertaker "Digger" O'Dell. This character was extremely successful, with many puns based on his profession. His first line was usually greeted with howls of laughter and applause from the audience. One example of this type of comedy is the line "Business is a little dead tonight." He would announce himself with, "'Tis I, Digger O'Dell, your friendly undertaker. My, you're looking fine today; very natural" and leave the stage with ""Cheerio, I'd better be... shoveling off."Â Â https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Life_of_Riley
