Re: S.G.
Well I know the circumstances can alter decisions. Safer on a ground floor if ever there is a fire risk..πΊ

Reading this reminds me that my mother needs a stairlift at her house.

Hubby hates stairs and that's why we moved to a one-story. Well, one of the reasons. They can be a nuisance, that's for sure.

CCT....
.....I'm afraid I have only used the stairs once in the four months since I have lived here. I'm being lazy and using the elevator. The one time I used the stairs down from the third floor was when we had a fire alarm go off. Elevators don't work during fire alarms.

Those chairlifts are a Godsend to those who need them. Stairs are perfect for cardio and toning. My hubby runs up and down steps for 8 to 16 hours, depending on the day at the steel mill regenerating zeolites and watching the gauges during the water treatment operation. Just writing about it makes me tired.

Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair
Where I sit.
There isn't any
Other stair
Quite like
It.
I'm not at the bottom,
I'm not at the top;
So this is the stair
Where
I always
Stop.
Halfway up the stairs
Isn't up
And isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery,
It isn't in the town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run round my head:
"It isn't really
Anywhere!
It's somewhere else
Instead!"[6]

I've thought of getting a chair lift and had a very similar argument with myself as the one you describe. The place I'd really use it would be outside - but the weather can be very severe here - hot as a stove in summer, and frozen in winter. Not very confident about how my front steps would handle the extreme weather. And it might trip the mail carrier on her appointed rounds.

I agree with Chumpet. get that silly stair lift. I am trying to get my money down from Canada [what is left of of it...to get a stair lift to the basement. We can hardly bring up our groceries cos the stairs are steep. Men! You can be so dang Stubborn!
