Thank you!
The Mac is a few feet shy of being seven miles long.
To put it in perspective, between the two towers is roughly a mile and a quarter. From the highest point there in the center, from the bottom of the bridge to the water is 200 ft.
It has two planes going north and two lanes going south. The secret to keep it from swaying is it has huge greats down the middle and along the edge this keeps water from accumulating on the bridge.
The winds get pretty Gusty on the lakes, but the design has kept it stable. They've only had one car that's ever gone over the railing and they do believe that may have been a suicide attempt. It was a very small car, and it was like a freak accident. To my knowledge, that car still sits at the bottom of the lakes.
As you go north lake Huron is on the right and lake Michigan is on the left it's nearly 400 miles from there to Chicago.
