Good Morning

Sherri, this is an awesome post.  I had never read this story before and I found it very interesting.  I believe in fair wages for a day's work.  Thankfully these boys stood up to the tycoons and made things better for everyone.  I cannot understand why these tycoons did not know these boys deserved a fair wage.  Did they want all the profits for themselves?  I'd say the answer is yes.

Re: Sea_Gypsy, that's great news. I worked three jobs back in the 80s.

I guess you do what you have to do to get by. John works 16-hour shifts at the mill 3-4 times a week when guys call off. Disappointed smile

They were brave boys with a depth of wisdom beyond their years. I hope they were successful adults as well. The hospitality workers in Los Angeles just settled so they can get more money - enough to live on without having to work two jobs. They clean hotel rooms.

Re: You're welcome. I found it to be an empowering story.

Re: It's not that simple. People need to work for what they get.

Those kids were working for their money, not expecting to be given wages for nothing. They deserved higher wages. We aren't rich, but I damn sure don't work every day to give it to people who refuse to work and expect handouts.

It reminds me of exactly what is happening today. The rich demand it all as their right and the poor get the scraps. from poor education chances to a decent wage for a decent days work.
