My Dad loved Gunsmoke as well. TV reached Australia and especially South Australia much later than the USA. of course. but we got lots of shows that had been or were still popular in America.

Re: FSI.....
.....It happened on my sixth birthday. The driver stopped and went up to my Grandma's house and said, "I hit a kid and I can't find her. She disappeared". I was laying in the weeds in a deep roadside ditch. It was in the country.

Good morning
Your dad was quite the character. It's funny how we complain about modern advances to technology, and then become addicted to them ourselves. Stepdad #3 used to watch Gunsmoke. Thank you for taking us back through a trail of cool inventions and your memory of them.

TAPS - What a fun post to read!
Your dad sounds like he was quite a sweet character! Plus I learned why X-rays are called X-rays. What an interesting world in which we live. We didn’t get a tv until everyone else in town already had one. And then, you’re right, my dad was one of those scientists who loved the cowboy shows, especially Gunsmoke. Thanks for the memories.
