I loved reading this. So many things the same when I was a kid. No power, just 32 volt batteries, wood stove with hot water coming from it. home grown vegetables fruit and milk from the cows. There were long drops for toilets outside but I only remember the bathroom glad to say.

It is amazing all of the technological breakthroughs. Now I'm feeling that the continued technological "development" is harming a lot of people.

Good morning

Those were the days when we had a more peaceful existence. Nobody missed what wasn't invented yet. My husband told me they had an outhouse when he was in grade school. Some of the older homes here in Pennsylvania are still heated by coal. My mother has spoken about some of the things you mentioned. She grew up with an outhouse for a bathroom and a house that only had heat when someone lit the fire. I personally wish that cellphones were never invented. Artificial Intelligence is also another bad idea. It is amazing how many changes happen in just one century. I can't even imagine what this world will be like 100 years from now. Pretty scary, I think. Sarcastic smile

TAPS

How I loved reading this post of yours! Some of the things you mentioned reminded of things my mother had told me about her life, which was really a hundred years ago, and some reminded me of things from my own childhood - like the burning of trash, which had just be "outlawed." Please do continue.
