Re: FSI

I guess you would remember that, LOL.   My first job was baby sitting for neighbors.  It was easy as usually the parents would get them ready for bed before they went out.  After they were in bed I usually spent the time reading.

Re: Pat

......I picked strawberries oncel   Down the country this old friend of the family told us we could have or eat all of the red ones.  That was fun.

That is a funny story, the sort of thing that fits the kids say the darnest thing narrative.

As for me, I remember my first job. I just so happen to still have it.

Yes I started at 14.,  9 a.m. to 20 p.m. It was cold winters chilblains even on ones ears.

I had chickens to feed before 9 a.m. And 15, 5 gallon paraffin cans to fill. We could not get enough paraffin in the tank on the lorry so the cans had to ride on the roof. 🌺

Worked for a commercial strawberry grower for a couple of summers, at a nickel a quart, made money for school clothes. It was a family thing, we got to the field while the dew was still on the leaves and worked with lots of others crawling along the rows until we had all the ripe berries off the vines, usually about noon. Yes, I ate some.

Good afternoon

That is really neat. Your granddaughter is on her way to becoming an adult. My granddaughter just got her worker's permit and is currently searching for her first job. My first job was at a Japanese restaurant in Klamath Falls, Oregon. I had just turned 16 when I applied for the job of bus girl. It was a very fast-paced environment. The tables had to be cleaned within seconds of the diners exiting the table or else the owner was breathing down your back. I learned a lot from that job. Girl hug
