Re: Taps
I suppose in a way it was a more settled way of life one lived in the atmosphere that surrounded a family, that is if it was a normal family. Today there is so much unrest
Families seem to split. Not even wanting to communicate with each other.
Bless you.🌺🌺

Re: Re: Good afternoon
I agree. The smell is awful, and the prices of cigarettes are through the roof. Not to mention the high impact on one's health.

That is one cold job you described there going under the van. I would've been pining even more for summer.

Re: Good afternoon
The best thing you ever did. Anyway the price would ruin anyone now.
We all smoked no one knew the penalty, It was tough to give it up
it felt like life was not worth living. I chewed peanuts for days until
I found that they made ones breath smell horrible.🌺🌺

Re: Taps
Of course families were more involved in everything we made our own games and most here huddled around the fire trying to bag the best chair. I remember my brother he was always a bit artful he would sit in the best chair early and if he wanted anything he would walk around holding the chair behind him.🌺🌺

Re: Pat
We used to save eggs in Water glass as it was called. the came out of the bucket kind of slimy. I do remember when I was very tiny that we had a crystal set one had to move a thin wire over some kind of crystal and if lucky one could hear voices and music.🌺🌺

We raised our own hens and eggs, so there was outdoor work every day, giving them grain and collecting eggs. Also chopping wood for the kitchen stove, and carrying it in from the woodshed. This was way back when - no TV up in the foothills in those days, but lots of programming on the radio. Winter is still tough on most of the world.Â

Good afternoon
Back when I was a heavy smoker, pneumonia was a regular visitor in my life. I quit smoking in 2007 and I am happy to say that pneumonia has never visited my body again. Old habits die hard, but they are worth putting in our rear-view mirrors.

In one way or another work is hard for so many and especially back in the days when you and I were young. My Dad and Mom were such hard workers in that day. I loved them so much. In spite of their toils and troubles and with seven children, they were happy and fun loving and music loving people.

You have always been one of the good guys!! Kids, boys especially, had to help around outside no matter the weather. There were always jobs to be done.
