- Go to FLOUR SACKS RECYCLED
To this day I prefer what the call a flour sack dishtowel. They work really well. Multi- use then and not a bad idea.

Good Evening
Pat, thanks for sharing this post. I didn't grow up during the War and I love learning how people lived from week to week. I love the idea of Flour Sacks. I know they were made strong to carry the flour. I'm interested in finding recipes that housewives made for their families. I hope you have a good evening.

I love these reminders. I was born in 1945 at the end of WW11 when the war in Europe was ending. Australia was poor I do know that and although Mother made all of our clothes and Dad wore his clothes to a thread, we didn't use flour bag hessian. Mother was able to afford to buy material and I myself don't believe I ever had a new dress of my own until I was about 10. I do know people even poorer than us did use the hessian from the bags though.

Good morning
And I bet that they were beautiful. My mom used to make her school dresses out of flour and potato sacks. Waste not, want not.
