Re:Pat

Yes it is a problem. Sadly with wooden houses one needs all the amenities that are considered

normal sewage disposal is becoming No 1 . Sadly it will become a lot worse, not every

country will withstand the coming years.

Re: Sea Gypsy

Yes, Indeed. Her next cave is hanging goat's skins on the wall. She calls it decor.

I remember when we used to have to walk a morning away to get a skin of water.

Now since we moved nearer the river it only takes a meal of dried oat time.  🦋🦋Red rose

I like reading back to old posts because with the benefit of hindsight, we get to see how spot on someone was. The idea of wooden houses does sound intriguing.

Thank you. Times have changed and things are not like they were. I wonder if the ancestors said the same thing? Red roseOpen-mouthed smile

Your post got me to thinking about house-building techniques. In some

suburbs around here, contractors build what they call McMansions (taking a cue from the McDonald's franchise, I guess). Two stories, extra porches, cupolas, and "gingerbread" to make them fancy, with attached 2-3 car garages, concrete driveways... all too expensive for my pocketbook. I've been thinking in this era of global warming and excess, we need to pull back a bit, build smaller. One human only needs so much space, and if two humans share that space, so much the better. Adding extra bathrooms, extra plumbing, larger roof areas to reflect more sunlight, extra concrete covering the ground instead of green growing things all make the place warmer. Takes more fuel to generate electricity to heat or cool that big house. It's kinda sad when you think about so many people in the world struggling to survive as homeless people, or fighting starvation in 3rd world countries as deserts grow larger, the weather gets more extreme. We need to limit population growth, shrink the amount of fossil fuels we burn, and give life a chance... (end of sermon)
