every summer June 10-19ish
Alberta has them on land that has not been tampered with. Pesticide's or tilling the ground. My parents property has them. Some years lots and some few. All depends on the summer I suppose.

Re: anib, we have them here in Pennsylvania nightly.
There aren't as many as there used to be, but they come out on summer nights.

Sherri G
This brings me to contemplate are they already extinguished? I saw them often in the jungles that encircled our house when we were young. I didn't then see them at all now for ages.

We call them lightning bugs where I'm at, too. I hope we can figure out a way to save them.

I have only seen them once. Many years ago the field was alive with them.

Good Morning
Sherri, we call them lightning bugs and when we were young we used to catch them.

I never saw any of them when I lived in Washington state, and was
amazed and delighted the first time I saw a night all lit up with them in this area. There are far fewer of them now, and they're only around for a short time in June these days. It's sad. Lightning bugs.
