I turn the ringer off at 10pm and don't turn it back on until I am up for the day. Any emergency can wait until I wake. I'm a light sleeper so if I get a call in the middle of the night I can't fall back asleep.

I have an Apple I phone. Jim bought a new phone for both of us when I came here and I am on his plan. There's no land-line in the house. Two years later, and I still hate it and it still hates me!

Good morning
Being old school, I felt very much the same way, but my parents kept insisting that we needed to get up with the times and get cell phones. I hated the idea at first, but now I can't imagine being without one.

I'm in the same position. If my power fails I have absolutly no communication except to step out on the porch and wave a white flag. (I hope a sheet would do--my flag is the stars and stripes.)
