Re: TAPS, that is awful. That is exactly why we are buying a safer version.
I'm sorry that you experienced that. There are just too many break-ins these days. Our old door isn't pretty like the one that you have described, so there is no real loss in getting rid of it.

I loved the door of our old home...wood frame with small glass panels. I loved standing and looking out when I was expecting someone or just watching the neighborhood. But, one day when we were not home, someone broke the glass in the one neares the lock and reached through and opend the door. They took a lot of things. Of course we replaced it with a solid door with a peephole and I always missed my old fashioned one. I also loved the fancy doorknobs in that house. It was built in 1910 in Kansas City.
