Like Sherri, my brother Bird and I would spend hours pouring through that Christmas catalogue. Yes for home delivery - it has come a long way, baby!

Clothes were rationed I once was very embarrassed, I had to wear a vest with lace
trimmings, I was sure it was previously something that my father had acquired
from an old gentleman whose wife had died. Also, a pair of shoes that had a pattern
of small holes.

My cousin got a job in Canberra the Australian Capitol. A computer was being installed...he had the correct degree. The computer unit took up one whole room. Circa... around 1960.

Good morning
This is a really cool memory. I grew up on the Sears catalog. Each year before school started I would choose my school clothes. I also looked forward to the Christmas catalog. My mother, who was born in 1948 talked about making dresses from the sacks that potatoes and flour came in. She later became a manager at Sears in Klamath Falls, Oregon for much of my pre-teen and teen years. My great-uncle was also a manager at Sears in Dover, Delaware back in the 1970s and 80s.
